Music Camp Scholarships
Once again Hendersonville Community Band will award Jim Stokes Scholarships to assist qualified Henderson County music students to attend summer band music camps of their choice. There are music camps at Brevard Music Center, Brevard College, Furman University, Mars Hill College, UNC Greensboro, Appalachian State, UNCA and many other locations. Students who are in grades 6 through 11 (2009-2010 school year) must be accepted by a camp in order to apply. These applications must be postmarked by May 1, 2010. Awards will be made by the end of the following week and applicants will be notified promptly of the outcome.
A Paul Barber Educational Scholarship is also available. Candidates for this scholarship must be in the 12th grade (also Henderson County) and planning to pursue a major in music. The scholarship money will be paid directly to their choice of college. Applications for this scholarship must be submitted by March 13, 2010. The recipient will be expected to perform at the May 16, 2009 concert of the Community Band.

A recommendation from the applicant's band director and/or private teacher is required.
